Story of a Five Year-Old Avenger, Meeting the Avengers
“Hi, Loki!” my wife said (100% sure she didn’t know Tim Hiddleston’s name). “Can my son get a picture with you?” she asked. “Can I put him on my shoulders?” Loki asks. “Um … okay?” is Jill’s response and hands Tom Hiddleston our son. He hoists him up on to his shoulders (I should mention that this guy is like 8 feet tall), and my wife takes out her Blackberry, only to find that it’s on its last battery leg. Nonetheless she manages to get a couple of shots. Hiddleston puts Edison down, shakes his hand and says goodbye…
… Evans crouches down next to Edison, who extends his hand and shakes the hand of The First Avenger. “Can I see your shield?” Evans asks and Edison hands his battered toy shield over. “Wow, you’re getting a lot of use out of this. You fighting a lot of bad guys with this?” he asks. Chris Evans and Edison proceed to have a conversation about the finer points of shields and fighting the enemy.
Are you ever going to not fall for that?
#loved this part #because on the one hand #it’s a reference to their fight in Thor #which is cool and all #but #there’s also so much history packed into that line #because you know Loki did this all the time when they would play together as kids #they’d be running around chasing each other #and giggling #and Thor would lunge at Loki #KNOWING that it was probably a clone and that he was about to dive flat on his face #but every time he would think to himself #maybe this time it will really be him #but nope #he face-plants every time #and Loki prances around him going ‘ehehehehehehe’ #like the adorable bb he is #and then they giggle some more and Thor gets up and runs after him again #sobbing
Advice for young feminists? Do something else besides feminism. I’m serious. The feminist blogosphere is oversaturated in my opinion. Please, find something else you love and take feminist theory there. It gets lonely over here in tech and video games – I have a great crew of other feminists but we are a little island in a vast sea. We need more feminist minded business bloggers, feminist theory wielding finance bloggers. Labor organizers with a feminist lens blogging. Can you imagine what Deadspin (the sports blog) would look like with a feminist on staff? Restructure writes about science, tech and feminism – join her! Publish a blog doing literary criticism with a feminist lens! Take on the NYT! Talk about class issues and feminism. Whatever it is, apply your feminism in a different space.
